There is a point at which conversation breaks down and everything you say is basically ignored because people on the internet make snap judgments about what you’re saying and filter it into the category of “agree” or “disagree” and then up/down vote accordingly. Eh, maybe you’re right, but I was getting dogpiled and it gets old fast. Honestly, I think capitalism is a major problem and we can replace it with something better, but people on Lemmy are so fucking obnoxious about it that my patience wears thin. If you say anything remotely against that group think, you will get dogpiled. The other day, I had a post that said something about China/Tiananmen Square, and had so many comments complaining. I don’t think I even encountered this much toxicity on reddit, this is ridiculous. Hence the “you tankies” comment.
