According to Google Lens, it’s called a York Chocolate cat which makes it even more adorable lol, dunno if it’s male or female but either way it’s a good friendly cat, always comes up to me even when I’m a few feet away from it.

Looool, I still haven’t named the cat myself, so maybe I’ll call it Soot 😂

My childhood cat was a York chocolate. They are very vocal, quite smart (like can open doors smart), and extremely friendly, if mine was how they ordinarily are.

Must’ve been a cute cat yours was. You’ve just further solidified my decision to get this cat if I ever have one in this life.

She was a really great girl. Even people who don’t like cats would tell me they wanted to steal her. If that’s a York chocolate, and no one owns him/her, snatch that up! They are really rare. Not even really a recognized breed.

I must’ve seen it one too many times in my regular walks that it’s now comfortable around me to loaf on my foot whenever I come to pet it. If it is a boy, then it’s a good boy.

Its a domestic long hair - most cats don’t fall into a specific breed, and reddish black fur is far more common than bluish black fur.

The best you can generally do with cats is look up their colouring/marking patterns to see if that has a name, but it doesn’t really mean much breed-wise.
