25·8 days agoI’m personally gonna call it,
2026 is legitimately the year of desktop LinuxMicrosoft’s fucked around with their users to a considerable degree that 10% happened this soon.

4·10 days agoAt this point it’s a choice between at least having some form of economy or continue propping up the sandcastle on stilts and hope it doesn’t collapse

Technology@lemmy.world•Keychron announces first open-source firmware for gaming miceEnglish
27·11 days agoGods, I really hope they consider Linux or at least SteamOS for software support.
Having my Logitech and Corsair mice without the ability to actively rebind anything on my Linux host (without the use of Windows VMs) is painfully annoying.

Would recommend trying SearXNG
Paraphrased from Wikipedia:
SearxNG is a free and open-source metasearch engine that provides agggregated search results, available under AGPL-3.0, with the aim of protecting its users privacy.

My British friend actually eats beans on toast unironically and I’m curious if anyone’s tried this as well, he says he enjoys it but dislikes the decision making when it comes to actually eating it with bare hands or with a fork and knife

Linux@programming.dev•[Phoronix] KDE Plasma 6.7 X11 vs. Wayland Session Gaming Performance For NVIDIA On CachyOSEnglish
81·1 month agoKind of a pointless comparison as we all know that x11 is EOL and Valve is hightailing it with significant improvements with Proton + Wayland.
A no-brainer comparison seeing the Wayland performance in the lead tbh.
Sonic Heroes was fun till I got stuck cause of a glitch that hard locked my game.
I should go back and finish it sometime this year🤔

11·1 month agoI tried this with lidocaine cream (the numbing chemical in most ointments) and it was still fucking painful.
Gonna be real whoever posed with a fucking smile for these products obviously haven’t tried these at all as they’re self-inflicted torture devices.
0/10 would not recommend.🖕

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Canonical Now Considers Their Steam Snap For ARM64 To Be Stable ["Steam Snap package for Ubuntu ARM64 that leverages the FEX emulator for running x86/x86_64 games on ARM64"]English
12·2 months agoCanonical seriously needs to reconsider their plans of attack if they want Snap adoption to be real.
Most consider snaps to be a joke because of how unstable and slow they are.
Flatpaks, AppImgs, .debs are still far better than snaps.

Anime@ani.social•Cowboy Bebop Officially Returns in 2026 Through New Spiritual SuccessorEnglish
7·3 months agoWhat is this guy even talking about?
It’s like comparing Redline and Initial D, sure they’re both about racing but it wouldn’t make either of them spiritual successors to each other

I’ve heard rumors that non-Xbox gamers will often refund games if they’re required to log into a Microsoft account.
This move seems careless as people can’t afford to buy a next-gen Xbox if it were to come out because Microsoft themselves are helping to drive up component costs due to AI.
There is no manufacturer in the world (that I’m currently aware of) that has been able to avoid increasing the costs of their electronic devices especially if it contains a hint of DRAM.
Closing off a market like Steam to themselves is so short-sighted in my opinion.
