No you didn’t. It’s not going anywhere, but it will always be a minority compared to SAAS.

It is. But now I want cooking-related metaphors for the relentless attacks coming in from everywhere, the need for encryption etc. Please.

News@lemmy.world•Did Big Oil Conspire to Kneecap the EV Industry?English
2·2 days agoHow much fuel did it consume on 100km?
It’s true, such cars were not fabled, but rare and never advertised as they would have deserved. I once drove a 1980s Diesel Opel station wagon a few hundred kilometers to haul some stuff, mostly on the motorway, mostly very conservative driving, and it used 3 liters / 100km.

News@lemmy.world•Did Big Oil Conspire to Kneecap the EV Industry?English
34·17 hours agoIs that really phrased as a question?
It’s been a truism for decades. Well, starting with more effective engines. The fabled 3-litre-car (if anyone remembers) could have been widespread reality since… idk the 90s I guess, but it never happened thanks to oil lobbies.
edit: oops that was eurocentric I guess. “3-litre-car” means that it consumes 3 litres of fuel on 100km. And such cars did and do exist but were never developed & advertised as they would have deserved.
Yr is Norwegian, but afaics they’re pretty good with nearby countries, too. It’s a product of their metreological institute, which seems like a good option privacy-wise. Not that such institutes have to be ad or data ming free, but they usually are.
It should come on all weather apps as a sort of health warning:

Wow.
Trumpism has become a brand of politics. Of course one could also just call it fascism, emboldened by MAGA’s success. There’s more than one EU country now that has fully succumbed. And quite a few partially. Don’t forget those while fascinated by the US government’s atrocities.

11·2 days agoGreetings from Finland (literally the other side of the globe).
We went from a solid social-democratic government (and thank doG we had them during Covid, they managed it near perfectly) to an unholy coalition of neoliberals, conservatives and fascists, pardon me, far-right populists.
The results are palpable after a bit over 2 years now; esp. low and no income people are getting fucked over hard, misbehaving fascists make the news, while prestige projects cost a multitude of what was saved from the poor. And of course they’re harping on immigration, too, although Finland really does not have that many to start with.
But tbh I have no idea how the new regime affects our own indigenous people.Thankfully this is still a well functioning democratic state and you can’t just willy-nilly “executive order” things.

12·2 days agoTBF to OP, the article is pretty critical of the whole grift. If they ever get there at all, it’ll be a pretty basic mid-range phone with an American flag on it, that’s all.
I’d be surprised if even the final assembly in Miami is an actual promise.

I maintain that close to you geographically is better, so I use the services provided by my country’s metereological institute. They also provide human friendly data (much more than the web ui) as json or xml, and I scripted a little app around that. It’s not hard.
